What to establish when replacing automatic opening vents within roof or façade glazing.
Survey the complete opening
The existing vent, curb or frame, surrounding glazing, support, weathering and control connections all form part of the replacement problem. Dimensions alone are not enough.
Coordinate controls and interfaces
The project team should confirm how the new vent will be powered, controlled, tested and integrated with the relevant building systems. Responsibilities for wiring, controls and commissioning should be clear.
Plan occupied-building work
Replacement may require temporary protection, safe isolation, internal segregation and phased working. Access for future inspection and maintenance should be considered at the same time.
