Bespoke Swimming Pool Glazed Atrium | Lonsdale SpanGard Glazing System

Rooflights & Atriums Ltd were appointed to deliver a bespoke architectural glazing installation at Manor House in Leeds, featuring an impressive 5m x 9m glazed atrium positioned above an indoor swimming pool, utilising the Lonsdale SpanGard patent glazing system.

The project involved the design, supply and installation of a substantial glazed roof structure, creating a striking architectural feature while maximising natural daylight into the swimming pool area below. The expansive overhead glazing helps establish a bright, open and welcoming environment, enhancing the overall appearance and enjoyment of the leisure space.

Swimming pool environments present particular technical challenges due to elevated humidity, condensation risk and potentially corrosive atmospheric conditions. The glazing design therefore required careful consideration of thermal performance, material compatibility, weatherproofing and long-term durability.

The Lonsdale SpanGard system provided a versatile solution for the large glazed structure, combining robust aluminium glazing profiles with a refined architectural appearance. Particular attention was given to the integration of the atrium with the surrounding building structure, including glazing support, perimeter interfaces, drainage and condensation management.
