Fabric Church (Ardwick Barracks)

Rooflights & Atriums were appointed to undertake the replacement of a large glazed atrium at the historic Grade II listed Ardwick Barracks in Manchester.

The project involved replacing the existing ageing roof glazing with a modern Lonsdale patent glazing system, carefully selected to complement the building's historic architecture while delivering improved weather resistance, durability and long-term performance.

The Challenge

Working within a Grade II listed building required a sensitive approach to the design and replacement of the existing atrium glazing. The new installation needed to respect the character and appearance of the original structure while addressing the performance limitations associated with ageing roof glazing.
