James Allen Girls' School

Replacement Rooflights & Natural Ventilation

Rooflights & Atriums Ltd were appointed to undertake the replacement of existing rooflights at James Allen's Girls' School in London, delivering a modern, high-performance glazing solution designed to improve natural daylight, thermal efficiency and ventilation within the school environment.

The project involved the installation of the Lonsdale ThermGard patent glazing system, providing a durable, thermally efficient replacement for the existing roof glazing while maintaining the architectural character of the building.

Integrated within the glazing system were Lonsdale GlazaTherm opening vents, designed to introduce natural ventilation into the internal spaces, improving airflow and helping to create a more comfortable learning environment for pupils and staff.

The works required careful consideration of the existing building structure, weatherproofing interfaces and installation methodology, with particular emphasis on delivering the replacement glazing safely and efficiently within an operational educational setting.

The completed installation combines traditional patent glazing aesthetics with modern glazing technology, providing a long-lasting, low-maintenance rooflight solution that enhances daylight, ventilation and overall building performance.
