Swimming Pool Rooflight Replacement | VELUX Commercial VGP System

Rooflights & Atriums Ltd were appointed to undertake the specialist replacement of an existing glazed rooflight at Total Fitness in Lincoln, following significant corrosion issues affecting the original rooflight system within the swimming pool environment.

The project involved the removal of the deteriorating roof glazing and its replacement with a modern VELUX Commercial VGP patent glazing system, providing a durable, high-performance solution designed to withstand the demanding environmental conditions associated with indoor swimming pools.

Swimming pool environments present particular challenges for architectural glazing systems due to elevated humidity, condensation and the potentially corrosive effects of chlorinated atmospheres. The replacement scheme therefore required careful consideration of material compatibility, corrosion resistance, thermal performance and long-term durability.

The new rooflight was designed to maximise natural daylight into the pool hall while improving weather resistance and reducing the risk of condensation and premature deterioration. Particular attention was given to the integration of the new glazing system with the existing supporting structure, ensuring effective weatherproofing and a high-quality architectural finish.

The installation required careful planning and coordination to safely remove the existing rooflight and install the replacement glazing within a specialist leisure environment.
