Ashbourne Methodist Church

Rooflights & Atriums was appointed to deliver a bespoke glazed roof installation at Ashbourne Methodist Church, providing a contemporary glazing solution that complements the character and traditional architecture of the existing building.

The project involved the design, supply and installation of an approximately 14-metre-long by 3.5-metre-wide monopitch glazed roof, incorporating the Lonsdale TG50 glazing system.

Working within the constraints of the existing church building, our team delivered a carefully detailed roof glazing installation designed to integrate seamlessly with the traditional red-brick elevations and surrounding roof finishes.

The Lonsdale TG50 system was selected to provide a robust, visually refined glazing solution, incorporating slim aluminium glazing bars and large glazed panels to maximise natural daylight while maintaining a clean architectural appearance.

Particular attention was given to the interfaces between the new glazing, existing masonry and adjoining roof coverings, ensuring the installation complemented the building's heritage character.

The completed installation provides an elegant glazed roof that brings together traditional architecture and modern glazing technology.

The extensive glazed area allows natural light to penetrate the space below, while the carefully proportioned framing and sympathetic detailing ensure the new structure sits comfortably alongside the church's historic brickwork and arched windows.
