Grade I Listed Heritage Rooflight Replacement

Rooflights & Atriums Ltd were appointed by Robertson Construction to undertake specialist rooflight replacement works at the prestigious Grade I listed Manchester Art Gallery, one of the city's most significant historic and cultural landmarks.

The project involved the replacement of existing roof glazing using the Lonsdale SpanGard patent glazing system, providing a high-performance solution carefully selected to complement the building's historic architecture while delivering the benefits of modern glazing technology.

Working within a Grade I listed environment, the project demanded a sensitive approach to heritage conservation, with particular consideration given to preserving the architectural character of the original rooflights, maintaining the integrity of the existing structure and ensuring compatibility between new glazing components and historic building fabric.

The replacement glazing was designed to enhance weather resistance, durability and thermal performance while maintaining the natural daylight essential to the gallery's exhibition spaces.
